MINISTRY OF HEALING AND PASTORAL CARE

Jesus was all about healing people’s bodies, minds, hearts and spirits so that we are all able to experience as joyful and whole a life as possible. From a place of compassion we continue Jesus’ healing ministry.

HEALING TEAM

This team of individuals trained in Healing Touch offer hands on healing energy treatments on the last Wednesday of the month at 1:00 pm to individuals seeking healing of body, mind, heart or spirit.

PASTORAL CARE TEAM

These folks deliver casseroles, send cards, make phone calls or visits to folks who are sick, in hospital, going through a crisis or welcoming a new baby. If you would like to become a pastoral visitor please talk to our ministers.

PRAYER SHAWL

Folks knit at home individually and as a group meet on the third Monday of the month from 1:00-3:00 pm to knit prayer shawls for folks that are going through a difficult time of sickness or change and would like to be wrapped up in God’s comforting presence. We bless the shawls and quilts twice a year in worship.

PRAYER CIRCLE

These folks pray in their own home to support people who have requested the incredible power of prayer to support and strengthen them – God’s first cyberspace.

PET MINISTRY

This ministry recognizes that our pets are cherished members of our families and when our beloved pet dies we mourn their loss as deeply as any human friendship. We have celebrated our pets in a Blessing of the Animals Sunday.

FLOWER MINISTRY

At Christmas and Easter our sanctuary is graced with the presence of poinsettias or chrysanthemums which are later delivered to our shut-ins in nursing homes by volunteers.

Tasha Belix

TASHA BELIX, M.A. Registered Psychologist is one of the few professionals in Calgary, Alberta with a practice focused on helping girls aged 8-15 years old reach their true potential. With over 20 years experience working directly with youth and families, Tasha is well recognized for her ability to gain acceptance and trust with girls while helping them work through issues that are usually attributed to adolescent growing pains.

Tasha offers a variety of programs aimed at helping girls navigate their tween and teen years with confidence and success. This can be done in one to one counselling sessions or by attending stimulating, fun group workshops.

For parents, Tasha is a unique, valuable resource: she can be the guiding light towards solving a variety of challenges that come with growing up.  She offers her counseling services to adults and parents as well, drawing tenants of CBT, EMDR and the expressive arts into her work to support people to reach mental health.

Tasha’s hourly rates are in line with the College of Alberta Psychologist suggested fee, but she will charge a reduce fee of $125/hour for clients referred through the LSU community.  New clients would simply need to tell Tasha how they were recommended.  As a Registered Psychologist, the session receipts are often reimbursed by medical insurance providers or can be submitted with year end taxes.
